Proudly Building Champions

A Journey of Growth and Achievement

Our vision is to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all rugby players, as well as individuals interested in starting their rugby journey. As a developmental club, we are committed to nurturing every willing participant—regardless of age (from 6 years and older), gender, race, or skill level—through the sport of rugby.

Our primary focus is on skills development and player safety. We aim to teach proper techniques while ensuring players understand how to protect both themselves and their opponents on the field.

We believe in consistent, year-round training to maintain fitness and muscle memory. This approach allows us to prioritise the development of skills rather than repeatedly rebuilding fitness levels.

There is a significant shortage of women’s rugby participation in South Africa. Our mission is to grow and strengthen the women’s game by developing confident and capable female rugby players.

Rugby is not limited to the traditional contact format, although this is a common perception. We are proudly affiliated with both Golden Lions Youth Rugby and the Gauteng Touch Association, creating diverse pathways for player development. This allows individuals to pursue contact with rugby or further enhance their skills through touch rugby, which places a strong emphasis on agility, speed, and technical ability.

We also aim to expand the club to a level where we can support and develop previously disadvantaged players, providing access to opportunities and resources that may otherwise be out of reach.

In addition, we recognise the positive impact of sport on mental health and personal development. Rugby can serve as a valuable outlet for children with special needs, such as ADHD, ADD, and sensory sensitivities, as well as for those who have experienced emotional trauma or depression. Our long-term goal is to collaborate with psychologists and therapists to offer specialised training sessions that support both physical and emotional well-being.

Ultimately, our purpose is to develop rugby players to the best of their abilities, instilling confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for the game.

Our Core Values

To ensure focused development and the best possible support for every player, we proudly offer dedicated divisions:

Valkyries Girls Rugby – for female players

Berserkers Boys Rugby – for male players

We invite all new players to come down and experience our 2-Week Trial, where you can meet the coaches, join the team, and see what makes Marks Park Rugby special.

Training Days: Mondays & Wednesdays

Time: 17:30 – 19:00

These divisions allow our athletes to receive specialised coaching, mentorship, and structured player development within their respective programs.
